Explore the world of percussion in this exciting class designed for older beginners or continuing drum students! Percussion Fundamentals introduces students to pitched percussion instruments like the marimba and xylophone, basic snare drum techniques, and percussion skills commonly used in middle school band settings. This class is an excellent precursor to private drum set instruction.

What to Expect
- Start Playing Right Away: From the first class, students will engage with a variety of percussion instruments, creating rhythms and melodies as they explore the fundamentals of percussion.
- Hands-On Learning: Over the first few weeks, students will learn the basics of snare drum techniques, pitched percussion instruments, and rhythm fundamentals. They’ll also develop ensemble skills while collaborating with classmates.
- Practice at Home: Students are encouraged to practice their techniques and rhythms at home to reinforce class activities and enhance their skills.
- Exciting Finale: Each semester culminates in a performance showcasing the rhythms and melodies students have mastered, providing a chance to share their progress with family and friends.
This small group class is designed to prepare students for private percussion lessons or participation in school and community ensembles. It builds foundational skills while fostering a love for music-making.
Suggested Prerequisite: Beginning Drums.
Materials: Students should have access to basic percussion instruments for practice at home. Contact us for guidance on instrument rentals or purchases.
