Introduction
CMCB supports website users and their privacy. This Privacy Statement shares more about how we do (and do not) collect personal information about users.
Navigating the main pages of CMCB’s website does not require you to share any personal information about yourself.
Information
By using some specific features, such as our donation page, newsletter sign-up, or web forms, you may be asked to provide additional information, such as your name or email address. If you do so, our intent is only to help process whatever request or transaction you are making, and contact you if we have questions. We never exchange or sell your information to third parties.
We process this personal information to facilitate online interactions, such as successfully signing up for events, joining our email list, or other marketing and fundraising purposes. The only information we collect is in order to help further our mission and programming.
To better understand our community and who is visiting our website, we may occasionally ask for demographic information. This information is voluntary and not required.
Cookies
A “cookie” is a small piece of information stored on your computer that contains information about different websites, which helps identify you, or your settings, when you make return visits to a site. CMCB’s website uses certain cookies in order to improve the web services we provide and to make a swifter and better user experience. If you wish, you can turn off cookies in your web browser. All the features on CMCB’s website are designed so that if a user turns off cookies, they can still access the main features of the site.
CMCB uses certain tools to analyze visitors’ browsing behavior on our site, including Google Analytics. As part of this process, we collect certain information about IP addresses, time of visits, browser type, and pages visited, in order to help measure the number of visitors to different sections of the site, diagnose and correct errors, and improve the website’s utility. Financial transactions
If you provide your credit card information to make a donation on CMCB’s webpage, we will use your credit card number only to process your payment through a third-party service called BlackBaud Merchant Services, and will not use it for any other purpose (for more, see below). Financial transactions for enrollment in lessons and classes are handled through third-party service ASAP by Vanco (for more, see below).
Mailing Lists
If you provide your email, postal mail, or telephone number to CMCB with the intention of learning more about our work, we will use this information only to send you relevant newsletters, updates, or information. You may opt out at any time.

Third Party Systems
CMCB uses a few third party systems for certain purposes, to streamline and optimize website users’ experiences.

Third Party Websites
CMCB’s website sometimes contains links to other third-party sites. CMCB is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these websites. These websites have their own privacy policies we encourage you to view. You can tell when you have left CMCB’s web server by checking the URL in the location bar on your browser.
Compliance and Legal Requirements
The Community Music Center of Boston intends to comply with all relevant data protection laws, including:
1. FERPA – Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (where applicable, for student data).
2. GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation (for EU residents, if applicable).
3. HIPAA – Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (for any relevant student medical/diagnostic data)
4. State Laws – Applicable Massachusetts state data protection regulations
Monitoring and Auditing
1. Monitoring – Systems that store or process sensitive data will be regularly monitored for suspicious activity, unauthorized access, and other potential security risks.
2. Audits – Periodic audits will be conducted to assess compliance with this policy and to identify any potential vulnerabilities in the Community Music Center of Boston’s data security practices.
