John Kleshinski Concert Series Presents Morgan Beckford and Alex Morollo

A concert centering a series of art songs & spirituals that center Black women composers and poets

Morgan Beckford and Alexander Morollo will present a program including a series of art songs and spirituals that center Black women composers and poets, highlighting vocal works by Margaret Bonds and Florence Price. Complementary works to this program for solo piano by Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert will also be presented. Program to include:

  • Works by Margaret Bonds (Autumn, The Negro Speaks of Rivers, He’s Got the Whole World in his Hand)
  • Works by Florence Price (Song to a Dark Virgin, Dream, My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord)
  • Selections from H. Leslie Adams’ Night Songs (Prayer, Sence you Went Away, Creole Girl)
