Introduce your child to the magic of violin in this engaging introductory class! This small group class introduces young students to the string family, focusing on violin technique, rhythm, ear training, and basic note reading. Taught by Kavita Shankar, students will begin playing simple songs while building a strong foundation for future private lessons or ensembles. Instruments are required for home practice and can be rented through CMCB. Class size is limited to 5 students.

What to Expect:

Start Playing Right Away: From the first class, students will create, read, and perform music.

Hands-On Learning: Over the first few weeks, students will build essential musical skills like note recognition, rhythm, and technique through engaging, interactive activities.

Practice at Home: Students are encouraged skills learned in class to continue developing their musicianship.

Exciting Finale: Each semester concludes with an in-class performance where students showcase their progress in a supportive and celebratory environment.

Materials: Students must have at least one instrument at home or rent through CMCB. Students will be sized for an appropriate violin. For instrument rental questions, contact Hannah Elizabeth at hetobias@cmcb.org.
