Manuel García-Baró
Born in Madrid (Spain), Manuel García-Baró (He, him, his) is a composer and pianist that lives in Boston since 2010. Always interested in very diverse styles of music, he studied classical piano with the Armenian master Serouj Kradjian, and at the same time, jazz, latin, and flamenco with Adolfo Delgado and Pepe Rivero. His composition studies are also very wide in terms of stylistic approaches. He first studied modern harmony and arranging, and later on he’d get into classical harmony and counterpoint. After graduating in Philosophy by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, he entered the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid where he majored in classical composition. In 2010, he was awarded with the Berklee/SGAE scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music (Boston). Manuel completed a dual major in Contemporary Writing and Production, and Film Scoring, and a minor in Scoring for Videogames and was awarded with the Doug Timm award for his contribution to the film scoring department. He currently works for the Community Music Center of Boston and Berklee College of Music, while maintaining an active career as a freelance composer for media and film.
