Kate Davison
Kate Davison is a flutist, piccolist, and dedicated educator based in the greater Boston area. She performs regularly with orchestral, chamber, and contemporary ensembles and her students have earned placements in top music programs nationwide, as well as at Massachusetts district and All-State ensembles.
Originally from New York, Kate began her musical studies in Connecticut at The Hartt School, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in flute performance studying with Janet Arms. She received her master’s degree with academic honors from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Renée Krimsier. While at NEC, Kate performed with the NEC Philharmonia and Wind Ensemble, including the world premiere of Aaron Jay Kernis’s Symphony No. 4 “Chromelodeon” at Boston Symphony Hall.
Kate holds a certificate in piccolo from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Catherine Payne. Her performance experience includes appearances with the Colby College Orchestra, Y2K: harp and flute duo, the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, Eureka Ensemble, and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players. She has also served in administrative roles at the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Music Center.
Outside of music, Kate enjoys cooking, running, and ice skating.
