Fall Building Updates

Beginning in early 2027, CMCB looks forward to operating two campuses for our Community Music School: one at 34 Warren Ave in the South End, and the other at 2164 Washington St in Roxbury. The two buildings are a 7 minute drive, 15 minutes on the T, or 30 minute walk apart.

After the new building opens, our great teachers and curricula are available at both locations.

At this time, there is evidence that the new building may not be completed and permitted until later in the Fall of 2026. As a result, all lessons, classes, and ensembles will begin in the Fall in the South End campus. Programs will begin operating at 2164 Washington Street in January 2027.

Once the school year starts in September, we will have community-wide information sessions and targeted conversations to confirm families’ plans for 2027 after the new building opens.

We know how important access within the neighborhood is, particularly for the students who live within walking distance of our current campus, in Chinatown and the South End. For this reason, we want to remind our community that we will maintain lessons and certain classes in our current location in the Boston Center of the Arts.

For our families who drive in from points beyond, you will be pleased to learn about the ample free parking available at CMCB’s new Roxbury campus.

For our families in Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mission Hill, we look forward to being your neighbor.

We look forward to continuing to work together with our families and teachers on what works best for everyone. As mentioned above, we’ll begin holding community-wide information sessions in September that share more information about the future.

It is an honor for us to help unite communities with multiple points of access, and we are touched by all the support we have seen for this stage of CMCB’s evolution. Let’s make some music together in 2026-27.
