Mark Perez

Mark Perez is a trumpeter, arranger, and educator from Southern California. His musical career started at the age of twelve when he joined beginner band. His chosen instrument was the trumpet, initially playing on his father’s cornet. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Redlands studying under Dr. David Scott.

His musical accomplishments include qualifying for the National Trumpet Competition for two consecutive years, attending both the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute and Longy’s Divergent Studio, and having the privilege to perform with professional groups including Bill Banfield’s Imagine Orchestra, The New England Philharmonic, and Summit Brass. Currently, Mark is pursuing his masters degree at the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Massachusetts. There, he serves as the Instrumental Studies department graduate fellow and is designated as the Rob Straus Equity Scholar. Mark Perez is a student of Andy Kozar.

Outside of music, Mark is a seasoned lifeguard approaching six years on the job, a novice cyclist biking around the streets of Boston, an amateur home chef that likes to experiment and cook without the use of recipes, and an avid gamer that loves to indulge in tabletop and video games.
