William Shipley
William Shipley is a multi-faceted musician and violist based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Originally from Arkansas, William completed his undergraduate studies in 2012 at the University of Central Arkansas. After beginning his professional career in central Arkansas, William performed in several major orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as numerous recitals in and around the state. Notable collaborations from this period include the University of Central Arkansas faculty, the Ying Quartet, Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Smokey Robinson.
In 2018, William moved to Boston to continue his studies and career. In 2019, he was accepted to Boston Conservatory at Berklee for graduate studies but was forced to withdraw due to a hand injury.
Currently, William maintains a full teaching studio and busy performance schedule across the greater Boston area. While specializing in viola, William can just as often be seen on stage with a violin. He also has extensive experience as a saxophonist and bassoonist. Other musical interests include the banjo, beat making, and music production.
Outside of the viola and music in general, William is also a trained pastry baker and aspiring polyglot.
