StringFest 2019

StringFest 2019 was a blast! More than 60 students from the Samuel Adams School, the Joseph Manning School, the Samuel Mason School, and the William Russell School convened in Allen Hall for an end of the year concert on May 31, 2019.

Studentsfrom the Samuel Adams school played We Will Rock You and This Little Light of Mine and were directed by Karl Ørvik. Students from the Manning played Bile em’ Cabbage Down Boys and DAD Song, led by Ken Mok and Lisa Sailer. Tap Dance and Bile em’ Cabbage Down Boys were performed by students from the William Russel School, led by Ann Miklich. Lastly, all students joined the Mason School students to play ChaCha.

After the concert, the students shared a lunch together to celebrate. Then as a special treat, after lunch, alumna Deena Corkindale gave a presentation and performance on electrical violin and how to loop music. The kids loved her performance and seeing this alternate way of playing violin.

Thanks to all of our teachers and staff, as well as the students who came out to play. We couldn’t have pulled it off without the support of our CMCB Alumni String Assistants: Camille Chan, Deena Corkindale, Michael Lopez, and Evan Thomson.
