Composing for Performers

Saturdays, 12:30 – 1:30 PM

An introduction to composing music from the perspective of a performer, with experience on one or more instruments. Composers, throughout history, have often performed and written their own musical works to perform. Delve into the craft of creating your own musical compositions through a welcoming group environment. Includes occasional assignments, feedback on compositions, lessons on notation software and musical engraving, and opportunities to perform your own and peer’s newly written compositions. Note reading and basic music theory knowledge required. This course will focus on concert music compositions; however any genre is encouraged!
