Our 2018 Annual Report has arrived. In it, we feature our work from the past year, thank our donors, and outline our next steps.

From Lecolion’s Letter

The Community Music Center of Boston has been one of the great organizations in Boston since 1910. Our mission to transform lives throughout Greater Boston is a tall order, but you know we do this every year by providing equitable access to excellent music education and arts experiences.

We accomplished much in 2018. Perhaps most importantly, we learned that we are at our greatest when we listen to you – our community – and create avenues for you to learn more about us. We want you to know that you are being heard and that we are proud to be activating your voice and the many voices in the community to maximize all that we can be for Boston.

We have some wonderful new programs this year. Our music therapy and school outreach programs have piloted a new relationship with the McKinley School in the South End. We are excited to look at ways to scale up this joint music therapy/school outreach model in the future. We are part of a consortium with the New England Conservatory, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, and Project STEP called the Boston BEAM Initiative. BEAM’s goal is to increase diversity in conservatory and university instrumental music programs in order to address long-standing inequities in the field of classical music. CMCB is excited to be playing a major role in this national conversation.
