Last Saturday, June 22, Community Music Center of Boston held its 7th annual Fête de la Musique to celebrate the summer solstice. From 3-6 pm, BCA Plaza, Frieda Garcia Park, Hayes Park, Ringgold Park, and Union park filled with music, activities, and people. Despite the two brief rain showers, people wandered, ate ice cream, and danced along with the music. If you attended, we would love to know about your experience! Please contact Sarah and send your feedback!
At BCA Plaza, CMCB students and alum performed, while balloon animals were made for a line of children. We also did a special presentation for Will Fickes to honor his leadership at CMCB.
At Frieda Garcia Park, Urbanity Dance taught dance and Fernando Brandão Choro Quartet performed Brazilian music, while visitors ate fresh cookies from Flour and chicken and rice from Vejigantes. Later, Frieda Garcia stopped by to enjoy the music.
At Hayes, the sweet strains of Anju and the rocking tunes of Petrichor were heard.
In Ringgold, Claudia + Dan Zanes performed a sensory-friendly concert. Claudia previously worked at CMCB as the Music Therapy director.
In Union Park, children and adults tried out new instruments at the instrument petting zoo. Children made bubbles, while families picnicked. Union featured music by Crocodile River Music and a fantastic Lion Dance performed by the NUWA Athletic Club.
Please support future Fêtes by making a gift today!
