Young Composers Festival 2019

February 1-2, 2019

free

Community Music Center of Boston and New Gallery Concert Series are proud to present this annual event, a 2-day long program of workshops, panel discussions and concerts by and for students from elementary school to college.
Students work alongside professional composers and performers to create, perform and enjoy contemporary music.  All workshops and events are FREE and open to the public. Students can attend any or all workshops and do not need to study privately at the Music Center to participate.  Sign-ups are not required! Young Composers Festival invites students of all ages to experience the art of composition through a number of different workshops all focused around a common theme.  Our 2019 theme will be "Popular Music." YCF will be inviting pre-college composers to submit their works to YCF’s Reading Session and “Written and Performed By” session. This event is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Boston Cultural Council.
