Rachmaninoff Recital: Erin Lindsey, piano

Artist in Residence, Erin Lindsey, performs Rachmaninoff on piano.

Sergey Rachmaninoff trained to be a concert pianist as well as a composer.  This duality of thought enabled him to transform the way pianists think about technique and revolutionize the way composers approach orchestration for the piano.  This afternoon the Music Center’s Artist-in-Residence soloist, Erin Lindsey, will present a program showcasing the powerful and virtuosic Rachmaninoff Sonata No. 2 as well as the moving and intricate Suite No. 1 for Two Pianos.  A spectrum from fiery to the sublime, Rachmaninoff’s music is not to be missed.

Erin Lindsey serves as the Chair of the Piano Department at Rivers as well as the Artist in Residence at Community Music Center of Boston. Ms. Lindsey’s piano students have won top prizes at international competitions, including the Prague International Young Pianists Competition and the Taipei Chopin Competition. Her repertoire includes the complete ChopinEtudes, Rachmaninoff Preludes, Bach Well-Tempered Clavier Book I, and Liszt Transcendental Etudes. Erin’s past studies include extensive study with Ian Hobson as well as work with the legendary Ivo Pogorelich.
