Moments of Change: Mysticism in Music and the Poetry of Margaret Atwood
Emma Juyendijk and Stephanie Lamprea

Soprano Stephanie Lamprea and pianist Emma Luyendijk present Moments of Change, a program which features contemporary works composed by female-identifying artists. Song cycles by Tania León and Elisenda Fábregas set the poetry of Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, who boldly illustrates the false notion of worldly ownership, simultaneous realities (safety in our communities versus violence in other parts of the world), extreme states of mind and untamed desire. Atwood’s words beautifully foil the non-worded works of Natacha Diels, Meredith Monk and Tiange Zhou, who all use worldly and emotional displacement to tap into intuitive mysticism, the independent use of spirituality and reason to gain insight into the true nature of our existence.

Event is free and open to the public! RSVP here.
