Celebrating Mark Miller

The Music Center’s Chamber Orchestra Director, Mark Miller, recently celebrated his 30th anniversary with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO).  Mark was honored at the BYSO’s 57th Season Concert.  Mark had the pleasure of simply enjoying this concert from the audience. His last concert of the season conducting his Repertory Orchestra took place on May 31st at 7pm at Kresge Auditorium at MIT. The concert was followed by a reception on June 14th where students, faculty and administration honored Mark while enjoying a few laughs about the celebrated Conductors’ “Markisms.”  Some of the comical lines noted were, “Go swallow a metronome” and “Can we have absolute silence so we can hear the sweat dripping from the bassoons?”

The BYSO celebrated Mark by releasing this statement: BYSO is proud to celebrate Repertory Orchestra Conductor, Mark Miller’s 30 years with BYSO! Mark has done it all during his time with (G)BYSO as Orchestra Manager, Assistant Conductor of BYS, REP Orchestra Conductor and so much more. We are so excited to honor Mark and his endless commitment to BYSO! He has made an impact on countless young lives and for that, we hope you will join us in celebrating him.

Congratulations, Mark!
