2014 Lapin Competition

Spring is in the air, which means Community Music Center of Boston’s 21st annual Lapin Competition is right around the corner.Over 40 students from CMCB will compete for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards, all accompanied by a monetary award.  The competition is broken down into 2 divisions: Junior and Senior. The Junior Division is for any student at CMCB below or in the 9th grade.  The Senior Division is for those in or below grade 12.

Students who wish to compete should prepare at least 2 contrasting pieces of music highlighting their strengths and versatility in their given instrument.  Judges also pay close attention to professionalism, musicality, poise and expression.  All students in CMCB Intensive Study Program are required to compete, however, any student who is interested in eligible to enter the competition.

Thursday, April 3rd – Preliminary Round

Junior Level: 5:30pm

Senior Level: 7:30pm

Saturday, April 5th – Finals

Junior Level: 12:30pm

Senior Level: 3:00pm

*Both the Preliminary and Final rounds of the competition are open to the public.

Students who are interested in competing should either contact their teacher at CMCB, or Will Fickes, Artistic Director.
